Agron (Augie) Vasha '76

Augie began his wrestling career in school at Stevenson Junior High in 1972. He was the Junior High City Champ in the 85 lb. class for the 1972-1974 season. Augie attend John Glenn High School where he achieved the following accomplishments:

• Most outstanding sophomore 1974 - 33 wins 13 losses. Qualified for State Meet at 107 lbs. 
• Earned High School All State honors as a Junior with a 44 wins 2 loss record and was selected as a High School All-America 107 lb. class. 
• State Champion as a Senior at 115 lbs. With a 42 win 1 loss record and avenged his only loss in the State Finals with a pin
• Named to the Scholastic Wrestling News All America Team and 
• Held the National Record for 3 years at 119 wins. He was the first wrestler at John Glenn to record 100 wins and was named 1976 Class”

To summarize his high school career he was 3 time league and all area selection and 3 time district, twice regional and a state champion. He also won 20 high school invitational tournaments. Augie attended the University of Nebraska (Lincoln) on an athletic scholarship where he was a three-year starter. Augie had the best team record as a freshman and was named team captain in his junior year. He sustained a neck injury as a junior and was unable to wrestle thereafter. He continued his studies and graduated from Nebrska with a B.S. degree in Physical Education.
